NEW LONDON, N.H. - September 22, 2013 - The Colby-Sawyer women's tennis team defeated Thomas College, 7-2 in North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) East Division action Sunday afternoon.
Colby-Sawyer improves to 4-4 overall and 2-0 in the NEAC, while the Terriers drop to 2-5 overall and 1-2 in conference play.
The Chargers swept doubles play as
Elizabeth Lincoln and
Ashlyn Ramsay teamed for an 8-0 win at the No. 1 spot,
Ellen Graham and
Oxana Tkachenko won 8-0 at No. 2, and
Conley Dion and
Ziyoda Saidova earned an 8-3 victory at No. 3.
Lincoln and Ramsay also took their No. 1 and No. 2 singles matches without dropping a game 6-0, 6-0. Tkachenko did not drop a game en route to an 8-0 win at No. 3. The seventh Colby-Sawyer point came in the No. 5 slot as
Conley Dion took care of Michaela Stanley, 8-2.
Thomas took two singles points in the No. 4 and No. 6 spots. Lindsey Allen dispatched
Ellen Graham, 8-3 at the fourth flight, while Katie McAllister defeated Saidova, 8-6 at No. 6.
The Chargers travel to Lyndon next Saturday to continue conference play. Thomas will host MCLA next Saturday.
