BRISTOL, R.I. - September 20, 2013 - The Colby-Sawyer women's tennis team fell to former Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) foe Roger Williams, 6-3 on Friday evening.
The Chargers fall to 2-4, while the Hawks improve to 4-3.
Elizabeth Lincoln (Plymouth, Mass.) and
Ashlyn Ramsay (Barkhamsted, Conn.) picked up an 8-4 win against Samantha Curran (Cumberland, R.I.) and Hillary Dutton (Cheshire, Conn.) at #1 for Colby-Sawyer. However, the Hawks still managed to snag two points before singles play. Alexandra Brown (Kennett, Mo.) and Lauren Schmidt (South Windsor, Conn.) defeated
Charlotte Horton (South Hamilton, Mass.) and
Oxana Tkachenko (Lviv, Ukraine) 8-0 at #2. Emma Limburg (New London, N.H.) and Adriana Maconochie (Easton, Conn.) wrapped up #3 with an 8-4 win over
Conley Dion (Falmouth, Mass.) and
Ellen Graham (Newburyport, Mass.).
At singles, Schmidt picked up a 6-1, 6-2 win at #3 over Horton, while Curran defeated Lincoln 6-3, 7-6 (4) at #1. Ramsay ended with a 6-3, 6-2 win over Dutton at #2, leaving the Hawks with a 4-2 advantage going into the second half of singles play.
Maconochie rolled to a 6-0, 6-0 win at #6 over Dion, while Harley Kaiserman (Setauket, N.Y.) got her fifth win of the season against Graham, winning 6-0, 6-2 at #5. Tkachenko earned the other singles point for Colby-Sawyer, beating Alexandra Reilly (North Easton, Mass.) 8-0 at #4.
