NEW LONDON, N.H. - April 21, 2013 - The Colby-Sawyer women's tennis team fell to Wheaton, 5-4 in the team's final match before playing at the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) crossover championship in Latham, N.Y. on May 5.
The Chargers fall to 17-4, while the Lyons improve to 11-7.
Colby-Sawyer won two of the three doubles matches to take a 2-1 lead heading into singles play. The duo of
Ashlyn Ramsay and
Donna Gordon blanked their opponent 8-0 at No. 2.
Charlotte Horton and
Oxana Tkachenko won 8-3 at No. 3 doubles.
Senior
Claire Toffey won in straight sets 6-0, 6-3 over her No. 4 singles opponent Kathryn Burleson.
Donna Gordon defeated Jessica Moore 6-0, 6-4 in the No. 5 slot to earn Colby-Sawyer's fourth point.
