Women's Volleyball to Play New Paltz in NCAA Tournament

NEW LONDON, N.H. - November 11, 2013 - The Colby-Sawyer women's volleyball team will make its sixth NCAA Tournament appearance and third straight when they travel to Potsdam, N.Y. to take part in an eight-team regional. The Chargers will play New Paltz on Friday, November 15 at Clarkson University. First serve will be at 3:00 pm.

Colby-Sawyer won its third straight North Atlantic Conference (NAC) championship on Saturday, which was the program's sixth conference title. The Chargers won three Commonwealth Coast Conference championships (1999, 2003, 2005) before moving to the NAC in 2011. Colby-Sawyer is 3-5 all-time in the NCAA Tournament.

New Paltz (32-6) is coming off a 3-1 loss to Buffalo State in the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) championship match. The Hawks are making their fourth trip to the NCAA Tournament and second straight. The team holds a 6-3 record in the tournament and reached the National Quarterfinals in 2008. Last season, the Hawks picked up a pair of wins over Skidmore and Cortland before falling to host Clarkson. Colby-Sawyer fell to Cortland in last year's tournament. 

Colby-Sawyer and New Paltz have met just one time. The Hawks came away with a 3-1 win on October 6, 2012 at the Springfield College tournament. 

The other regional match-ups at Clarkson University will include Richard Stockton (30-5) versus Rivier (27-8), NYU (27-7) versus Nazareth (29-8), and #23 Clarkson (33-6) against Westfield State (19-14).

The tournament will continue on Saturday when the winner of Colby-Sawyer and the Hawks will play the Richard Stockton (30-5) vs. Rivier (27-8) winner.
