CASTLETON, Vt. - October 12, 2013 - The Colby-Sawyer women's tennis team earned its second straight North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) East Division title with a 5-0 win over Castleton in Saturday afternoon's championship match. Earlier in the morning, the Chargers swept Lyndon, 9-0 in the semifinals.
Picked as the preseason favorite to repeat, the Chargers went undefeated through conference play for the second straight year. Colby-Sawyer (10-4) will face the winner of the NEAC West Division in the spring with a trip to the NCAA tournament on the line.
The Chargers went on top 3-0 after sweeping doubles play. The No. 1 team of
Elizabeth Lincoln and
Ashlyn Ramsay followed their 8-0 win in the semifinals with another 8-0 win in the championship match. For Lincoln, the two wins today gives her 59 career doubles victories, which is a new school record, surpassing the 58 wins of former teammate
Claire Toffey '13.
Ramsay and
Oxana Tkachenko made quick work of their No. 2 and No. 4 singles matches, respectively, to give the Chargers to the 2013-14 crown.

SEMIFINALS
Top seed Colby-Sawyer earned a 9-0 victory over fourth seed Lyndon St. while Castleton dropped Thomas 6-3. With their victories, the two teams will square off in a rematch of last season's NEAC East Championship Saturday afternoon.
The Chargers earned 8-0 victories at both the first doubles and second doubles flights, and finished a doubles sweep with an 8-3 victory at the third flight.
In singles play, the top seed continued to roll, earning straight set wins at every flight.
Ashlyn Ramsay earned a 6-0, 6-0 victory at second singles while
Charlotte Horton and
Conley Dion each surrendered just one game at third singles and sixth singles, respectively. The Hornets' top flight player Kayla Flynn put up the toughest fight, nearly stealing a set from the Chargers'
Elizabeth Lincoln, but fell 6-4, 6-1.
