NEW LONDON, N.H. – September 8, 2012 – The Colby-Sawyer volleyball team defeated the Cadets of Norwich University, 3-0 on Saturday afternoon. The Chargers won by scores of 25-17, 28-26 and 25-13.

Colby-Sawyer improves to 2-4, while Norwich pulls even at 2-2.

Sophomore Jackie Keating (Marshfield, Mass.) recorded a match best 14 kills and hit an impressive .458. Junior Courtney O'Hara (Mystic, Conn.) also reached double figure kills with 12. Freshman setter Laura Smolinski (Hebron, Conn.) had a match-high 33 assists. Juniors Ally Le-Bruno (Medfield, Mass.) and Julia Yee (Quincy, Mass.) totaled 11 and 10 digs, respectively.

The Cadets were led by freshman Tara Lyons (Pocasset, Mass.). She registered a team best seven kills and chipped in eight digs. Senior Gabrielle Miller (Grove City, Ohio) had 16 assists and six digs. Sophomore libero Corinne Baita (Rochester, N.H.) collected a team-high nine digs. 

Colby-Sawyer travels to UMass Boston on Tuesday for a 6:00 pm match. The Cadets play at Green Mountain on Thursday at 7:00 pm.
