JOHNSON, Vt. – September 12, 2012 - The Colby-Sawyer College women's tennis team cruised to a 9-0 North Eastern Collegiate Conference (NEAC) East Division victory at Johnson State College on Wednesday afternoon.
The Badgers stand at 1-3 overall, 1-1 NEAC while the Chargers improve to 5-2, 3-0 NEAC.
The Chargers rolled through doubles action and took a quick 3-0 lead with sophomore
Donna Gordon (Essex Junction, Vt.) and freshman
Ashlyn Ramsay (Barkhamsted, Conn.) teaming for a win at the first flight over Johnson's Emily Miller (Tucson, Ariz.) and Annette Kaminski (Southington, Conn.) 8-3.
JSC freshman Deanna Brandstetter (Newport, Vt.) won the first game of the match at second singles before Ramsey ran off the next six to win the first set 6-1. Ramsay would take the second set at 6-3 and the two set victory as the rest of Chargers cruised to two-set wins also.
Johnson will now play at Castleton State College in their next match on Saturday, September 15 at 1:00 pm while Colby-Sawyer will compete at the Grass Court Doubles Tournament this weekend in Newport, R.I.
