Swimming & Diving Defeats Gordon

NEW LONDON, N.H. - October 27, 2012 - The Colby-Sawyer men's and women's swimming and diving teams defeated Gordon in the Chargers' first home meet of the season on Saturday afternoon.

The women's team won by the score of 193-85, while the men came away with a 123-116 victory.

The women's 200 medley relay began the afternoon with a victory in 2:00.84. The team was comprised of Elaine Miller, Erin Dunican, Hannah Fairbank, and Krystyna Estrada

Hannah Willcutt then took the top spot in the 1000 freestyle in 12:43.01. She also won the 500 freestyle in 6:18.13.

Miller and Willcutt finished first and second in the 50 backstroke. Fairbank won the 100 butterfly in 1:11.99, while Estrada won the 50 freestyle in 25.29 and the 50 butterfly in 29.41. Miller added a victory in the 100 freestyle at 57.40.

Samantha Dalphond scored 223.5 as she took the top spot in the one meter dive today. The score was good enough to be  a conditional qualifier for ECAC's. She will look to match or increase the mark next weekend at St. Michael's. She also won the three meter dive with a score of 149.70.

In the day's last event for the women, the 200 freestyle relay team of Estrada, Fairbank, Dunican and Jen Gavell won the race in 1:48.89.

The men's team's depth helped them hold off Gordon to earn the victory.

Devin Uhlman took the first win of the afternoon in the 1000 freestyle. He was followed by a win in the 200 freestyle by Kyle Harris at 2:00.00.

Keenan Bartlett picked up a win in the 50 backstroke in a time of 28.86 and the 100 backstroke at 1:02.01. He ended the afternoon with a win in the 100 IM at 1:01.86.

Jimmy Montanari also turned in some good swims. He finished second in the 50, 100 and 1000 freestlye events. 

Eric Foulds took the top spot in the one and three meter diving events. 

The Chargers return to the pool next Saturday at Saint Michael's.
