MIDDLEBURY, Vt. - September 28, 2011 - The Middlebury women's volleyball team defeated Colby-Sawyer 3-0 by scores of 25-11, 25-18 and 25-10 in Pepin Gym.
Middlebury improves to 7-4, while the Chargers fall to 7-11.
Sarah Studwell led the Panthers with nine kills. Caitlin Barrett ended the match with 16 digs, while Julia Gibbs and Meg Anderson had eight apiece. Gibbs also had four service aces and 20 assists in the contest, while Madeline Firestone had three blocks.
Courtney O'Hara led the Chargers with seven kills.
Ally Le-Bruno had 10 digs to lead the defense.
Kristin Sawyer recorded 13 assists and eight digs.
The Panthers return to action Friday night at 8:00, when they host Amherst in a key NESCAC battle. The Chargers begin North Atlantic play this weekend beginning with a 7:00 pm match on Friday against the Univ. of Maine at Farmington.
