Swim Team Celebrates Senior Day

NEW LONDON, N.H. - February 5, 2011 - The Colby-Sawyer men's and women's swimming and diving teams hosted UMass Dartmouth on Senior Day in the Knight Natatorium. The Corsairs came away with a couple of close victories defeating the men 136-119 and the women 126-104.

Freshman Chris Giordano highlighted the day for the men by setting a new pool record in the 200 breaststroke. He touched the wall 2:28.97 en route to the first place finish. Chris also won the 400 IM in a time of 4:52.97.

Freshman Keenan Bartlett earned a victory in the 1000 freestyle in a time of 11:29.21. Sophomore Jimmy Montanari won the 200 freestyle at 2:02.98.

Senior DJ Poulin celebrated senior day by winning the 100 freestyle in a time of 53.29.

Freshman Erin Dunican won the 50 breaststroke (34.32), the 50 freestyle (27.08), and the 200 breaststroke (2:38.05) to lead the women's team. 

Seniors Amanda McCusker and Natalie Whaley each won a race in the final home meet of their career. McCusker won the 500 freestyle at 6:39.65, while Whaley earned the victory in the 50 butterfly at 31.18.

Colby-Sawyer will compete next at the New England Championships held at the Upper Valley Aquatics Center in White River Junction, Vt. on February 18-20.
