Michelle Doody Leads Attack in 3-0 Win Over Norwich

NEW LONDON, N.H. – September 23, 2010 – The Colby-Sawyer women's volleyball team defeated the Cadets of Norwich University, 3-0 on Thursday night. The Chargers, who improve to 7-4 overall, have won seven of their last eight matches. Norwich has dropped their second straight match and fall to 7-5 overall. 

Colby-Sawyer won by scores of 25-16, 25-19, and 25-17. 

Colby-Sawyer senior Michelle Doody (Franklin, Mass.), who leads The Commonwealth Coast Conference in kills per set, led all players in tonight's match with 16 kills. She also added 10 digs for her sixth double-double of the season. Freshman Courtney O'Hara (Mystic, Conn.) had another solid match with seven kills and a match-high 11 digs. Freshman Emilee McBride (Strafford, N.H.) hit .500 and had five kills in the victory. 

Norwich was led by a five kill, 10 dig performance from senior Thea Evans (Glencoe, N.M.). Senior Molly Rice (Sunapee, N.H.) had 13 assists, six digs, three kills and two aces for the Cadets.

Colby-Sawyer will play a tri-match on Saturday against Plymouth State and UMass Dartmouth in Plymouth, NH. Norwich returns to the court also on Saturday with an away match at Pine Manor.
