Chargers Resume Play in the Spring; Prepare for NCAA’s

Results vs. Simmons

Results vs. Wheaton

NEW LONDON, N.H. – April 13, 2010 - The Colby-Sawyer women's tennis team played two matches over the weekend to prepare for the upcoming NCAA tournament. The Chargers have been off from competition after winning The Commonwealth Coast Conference tournament in October.

The Chargers traveled to Simmons on Saturday to play the Sharks, who were ranked 26th among NCAA Division III programs in the northeast by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA). Simmons proved to be too much for Colby-Sawyer as they beat the Chargers, 7-2. Jen LaChance and Hannah White earned an 8-2 victory at No. 1 doubles, while Carolyn Drake accounted for the other Colby-Sawyer point with a 6-0, 6-0 sweep at No. 6 singles.

Colby-Sawyer then went to Wheaton College (Mass.) to play against the 10th ranked team in the Northeast according to the ITA. The Lyons, who won the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) last October, beat the Chargers 9-0.

Colby-Sawyer (16-3) travels to Middlebury on Sunday and then plays Bates and Castleton State next week at home for a final tune-up before the NCAA Tournament, which begins on May 14 at campus sites.
