NEW LONDON, N.H. – December 9, 2010 – The 24th ranked Bowdoin women's basketball team earned their sixth straight victory with a 72-55 road win at Colby-Sawyer. The Polar Bears improve to 6-1 overall, while the Chargers even up at 4-4.
Colby-Sawyer jumped out to an 11-6 lead in the first four minutes of the contest before Bowdoin answered with an 8-0 run to regain the advantage. The teams exchanged baskets for the next five minutes until a 10-0 run by the Polar Bears extended their lead to 26-18. Bowdoin dominated the paint in the first 20 minutes with a 24-8 edge en route to a 40-30 lead heading into the locker room.
A 15-2 run midway through the second half put the visiting team ahead for good. The Polar Bears shot 43% from the floor and held a 44-16 advantage in the paint for the game. Bowdoin also received 40 bench points in the win.
Bowdoin was led by junior Nicole Coombes (Simsbury, Conn.). She had 18 points and eight rebounds off the bench. Sophomore guard Kaitlin Donahoe (Amherst, N.Y.) scored 16 points and dished a game-high six assists. Senior Katie Bergeron (Bradley, Maine) also reached double-figures with 11 points.

Cailin Bullett (Millbury, Mass.) who scored a game best 19 points. Senior
Katelyn Stravinsky (Norwell, Mass.) had 18 points and five rebounds. Sophomore
Taylor DeSanty (North Adams, Mass.) added 10 points.
Colby-Sawyer is off until January 3 when they will face Nichols in Nassau, Bahamas. Bowdoin will host Maine Maritime on Saturday at 2:00 pm before heading to the Holiday break.
