Endicott Comes From Behind to Earn 3-2 Win at Colby-Sawyer

NEW LONDON, N.H. – October 5, 2010 – The Endicott women's volleyball team came back from a 2-1 deficit to defeat Colby-Sawyer, 3-2 on Dig Pink night at the Hogan Sports Center. The Gulls improve to 14-6 overall and 6-1 in The Commonwealth Coast Conference. The Chargers dip to 10-8 overall and 4-2 in conference play. 

Colby-Sawyer led wire to wire in taking set one 25-18, but Endicott rebounded with a 25-21 win in the second. The Chargers trailed 11-6 in set three before exploding for a 9-1 run en route to the 25-22 victory. The Gulls did not give up as they won sets four and five, 25-18 and 15-6, respectively. 

The Gulls had three players reach double-figure kill totals led by 16 from senior Brittney Phillips (Sudbury, Mass.). Phillips also added 26 digs. Sophomore Falyn Torelli (Pelham, N.Y.) recorded a double-double with 15 kills and 12 digs, while junior Elyse Barbour (Greenville, R.I.) added 10 kills. Sophomore libero Ashley Norley (Sudbury, Mass.) had a team best 31 digs. Junior setter Ally Murphy (Gilford, N.H.) contributed 40 assists and 16 digs. Senior Amy Grigg (Vernon, Conn.) tallied eight kills, six solo blocks and three block assists in the win. 

Colby-Sawyer was led by 21 kills from senior Michelle Doody (Franklin, Mass.). She also added 23 digs. Freshman Emilee McBride (Strafford, N.H.) recorded a career-high 10 kills for the Chargers. Freshman libero Ally Le-Bruno (Medfield, Mass.), led all players with 37 digs. Freshman Courtney O'Hara (Mystic, Conn.) just missed a double-double with nine kills and 15 digs. 

Colby-Sawyer plays a tri-match on Saturday beginning at noon against Keene followed by a match with Brandeis at 2:00pm. The matches will be held at Keene. Endicott resumes play in La Verne, California this weekend with four matches beginning on Friday morning at 9:00 am.
