DANBURY, Conn. - October 23, 2010 - The Colby-Sawyer volleyball team played three matches at Western Connecticut on Friday and Saturday. The Chargers fell to Rivier, 3-2, Western Connecticut, 3-0 and Vassar 3-1.
Match 1 - Colby-Sawyer vs. Rivier -

The Raiders and Chargers split the first two games, with Rivier winning 25-20 and Colby-Sawyer storming back for a 25-12 victory. Rivier easily won game three, 25-8, but Colby-Sawyer answered with a 25-23 win in game four. In the fifth and deciding game, Rivier fought off a match-point to win 17-15 and take the match 3-2.
Senior
Michelle Doody led all players with 19 kills and added 19 digs. Freshman
Ally Le-Bruno recorded a match-high 29 digs, while junior
Kristin Sawyer contributed 40 assists and four aces. Freshman
Emilee McBride had six blocks. Senior
Stef Turner added 13 kills.
Match 2 - Colby-Sawyer at Western Conn. -
BOX SCORE
West Conn. won the first two games over Colby-Sawyer by identical 25-21 scores, and then took the third game 25-15 and claim a 3-0 victory for the match.
Doody had another double-double with a match-high 14 kills and 13 digs. Freshman Courtney O'Hara added eight kills. Le-Bruno tallied a match best 19 digs.
Match 3 - Colby-Sawyer vs. Vassar -
BOX SCORE
Vassar College took the first two games, 25-18 and 25-22. Colby-Sawyer rebounded for a 25-22 win in the third, but Vassar closed the match with a 26-24 win in the fourth.
Doody recorded 22 kills and 17 digs for her third double-double of the weekend. O'Hara had 13 kills, while Le-Bruno posted another match best 37 digs.
The Chargers play one more non-conference match on Tuesday night at Emerson before finishing the regular season at Regis with Wentworth on October 30.
