Swim Team Dives Into 2010-2011 Season With Win Over Gordon

NEW LONDON, N.H. - October 23, 2010 - The Colby-Sawyer swimming and diving team opened its 2010-2011 season with a victory over Gordon College on Saturday afternoon. The men's team won 163-67, while the women earned a 159-86 victory. 

Freshman Erin Dunican led the women's team with strong performances in the 200 Medley Relay, 50 Breaststroke, 100 Breaststroke, and 100 IM. She picked up the wins in the 100 IM at 1:08.48 and won both breaststroke events by a five second margin over the second place finisher. She clocked in at 34.52 in the 50 and 1:15.54 in the 100.
 
Freshman Chris Giordano, freshman Keenan Bartlett, junior Owen Worden, and senior Max Gaughan were members of the 200 Freestyle Relay team that placed first in 1:41.30. 

Giordano also won the 50 Breaststroke (31.21) and the 1000 Freestyle (11:23.45).

Bartlett took first in the 50 Freestyle in 25.33 and followed with a pair of wins in the 50 Backstroke (29.41) and 100 Backstroke (1:03.75).

Gaughan won the 50 Butterfly (28.41) and the 100 Freestyle (57.95), while Worden earned victories in the 100 IM (1:03.16), 200 Freestyle (2:04.08) and the 500 Freestyle (5:43.47). 

The Chargers will host WPI next Saturday (October 30) at 1:00 pm.
