Volleyball Splits; Doody Joins Elite

BOX SCORE vs. Salve Regina

BRISTOL, R.I. - October 2, 2010 -
The Colby-Sawyer women's volleyball team won its first match of the day over Salve Regina, 3-1. The Chargers will face the host of today's tri-match, Roger Williams in match two.

The Chargers won set one 25-20, but fell in set two 25-23. Colby-Sawyer closed the match with wins in set three and four, 25-21 and 28-26, respectively.

Leading the offensive attack was senior Michelle Doody who registered a match-high 22 kills. Senior Stef Turner added 12 kills in the win. Freshman Ally Le-Bruno contributed a match best 27 digs to limit Salve's hitters.

BOX SCORE vs. Roger Williams

BRISTOL, R.I. - October 2, 2010 - The Colby-Sawyer women's volleyball team dropped its second match of the day to Roger Williams. The Chargers lost a hard fought match to the host Hawks by scores of 25-22, 22-25, 15-25, 21-25.

Leading the offense attack was senior Stef Turner who had 12 kills. Freshman libero Ally Le-Bruno led the Chargers with 23 digs.

Senior Michelle Doody became only the second Charger to achieve the milestone of 1,000 kills and 1,000 digs. Doody joins Colby-Sawyer great Sara Hammond '01 as the only two Chargers in the 1,000 kill and dig club.

Colby-Sawyer returns to action on Tuesday night when they host the Gulls of Endicott. The Chargers will be hosting their annual Dig Pink match to raise money for the Norris Cotton Cancer Center and their search for the cure for Breast Cancer. The first serve is set for 7:00pm.
