NEW LONDON, N.H. – January 12, 2010 – Senior
Terri Duffy (Marshfield, Mass.) recorded her fifth double-double of the season with 25 points and 16 rebounds to lead Colby-Sawyer to an 82-59 victory over New England College. The Chargers improve to 4-10 overall and 1-1 in conference play, while the Pilgrims drop to 7-7 overall and 2-2 in TCCC play.
The first half began with each team trading a pair of baskets for a 4-4 tie. The Chargers then went on an 11-2 run, sparked by seven points from freshman
Taylor DeSanty (North Adams, Mass.). Colby-Sawyer led the rest of game and as much as 23 late in the second half. The Chargers also held wide margins in points in the paint 46-14 and bench scoring 38-8.
DeSanty finished with 16 points on 7-8 shooting, while sophomore
Maggie Rossi (Fairhaven, Mass.) also was in double-figures for the Chargers with scoring 10 points. Rossi added a career-high tying nine assists. Junior
Katelyn Stravinsky (Norwell, Mass.) added nine points, three assists and two steals. Junior
Ashley Brewer had a nice game with seven points and three rebounds.
Pacing the Pilgrims was graduate student Jenny Bronson (Morgan, Vt.) who poured in 21 points and pulled down eight rebounds. Sophomore Rachel Williams (Chapel Hill, N.C.) contributed 18 points, while senior Kendall Wolfson (Lyndeborough, N.H.) finished with 10 points.
The Chargers travel to Anna Maria on Saturday for a 1:00pm tip, while the Pilgrims play at Nichols also on Saturday at 1:00 pm.
