PROVIDENCE, R.I. - September 1, 2009 - The Colby-Sawyer women's volleyball team defeated Johnson & Wales 3-0 to begin the 2009 season at the Harborside Recreation Center on Tuesday evening. The Chargers beat the Wildcats by the scores of 25-11, 25-18, and 25-18.
Junior Michelle Doody (Franklin, Mass.) led the way for Colby-Sawyer with a match-high 14 kills and seven digs while senior Genny Moore (Centerville, Mass.) added 28 set assists, six digs and two kills for the Chargers.
Senior Meg White (Monroe, Conn.) and junior Stef Turner (Boxborough, Mass.) each added six kills.
Johnson & Wales was paced by sophomore Erin Leahy (Reading, Mass.) who tallied four kills while freshman Kasey Higgins (Wallingford, Conn.) added 11 set assists and five digs for the Wildcats.
The Chargers return to action on September 9 at Wheaton.
