Women's Volleyball Comes From Behind to Beat Smith 3-2; Sweeps Elms 3-0

CHICOPEE, Mass. - September 12, 2009 - The Colby-Sawyer women's volleyball team earned two more victories on Saturday at a tournament hosted by Elms College. In the Chargers' first match, Smith took a two set to none lead but Colby-Sawyer rallied to win the last three sets. In the nightcap, the Chargers breezed to a 3-0 sweep of Elms. Colby-Sawyer is 4-0 and will play its first home match on Wednesday against Plymouth State.

Junior Michelle Doody (Franklin, Mass.) led all players with 21 kills and added 18 digs. Senior Genny Moore (Centerville, Mass.) recorded a double-double with a match-high 42 assists and 13 digs. Junior Stef Turner (Boxborough, Mass.) added 13 kills and six blocks. Senior Mickey Lapan (Medway, Mass.) recorded 28 digs win the win.

CSC 3, Elms 0
Senior Meg White (Monroe, Conn.) led all players with 12 kills. Junior Ashley Finethy (Alton Bay, N.H.) had five kills and hit .333. Senior Shelagh Costell (Canton, Mass.) contributed eight digs. Doody registered four kills, five digs and a career-high seven aces.
