NEW LONDON, N.H. – October 14, 2009 – On a night that supported the Norris Cotton Cancer Center (Lebanon NH), Colby-Sawyer was successful in raising close to 700 dollars and earned a 3-0 victory over Eastern Nazarene. The Chargers, who improve to 15-6 overall and 6-0 in TCCC, won by scores of 25-23, 25-14, and 25-18. The Lions fall to 4-18 overall and 1-6 in conference play.
The night began with a David L. Coffin Field House decorated in pink and continued when the crowd and players made an appearance. The fans with pink t-shirts, players with pink uniforms, and staff in pink shirts contributed to help support Breast Cancer Awareness. Representatives from the Norris Cotton Cancer Center were at the door to increase awareness to entering fans of the dangers of Breast Cancer. Bracelets, t-shirts, and ribbons were sold, in addition to many donations. When it was all said and done, the Chargers won the contest 3-0 and raised a lot of money for a good cause.
Junior
Stef Turner (Boxborough, Mass.) continued her hot hitting with a match-high 15 kills and a .600 hitting percentage. Senior
Megan White (Monroe, Conn.) contributed 12 kills and six digs.
Junior Bethany Greenfield (Parsippany, N.J.) played well for the Lions with 16 assists and a match-high 15 digs. Junior Amber Burns (Fall River, Mass.) led the offense with six kills to go along with eight digs and two blocks.
Colby-Sawyer plays at Roger Williams on Saturday at 1:00pm, while the Lions play at Rhode Island College on Thursday for non-conference action at 7:00pm.
