Makenzie Welch turned in several great swims throughout the day to lead the Chargers on Saturday. She won the 200 IM in a time of 2:26.34 more than three seconds ahead of the second place finisher. She also collected a pair of second place finishes. In the 100 backstroke, Welch touched the wall in 1:04.48 to place second behind a competitor from Regis, but was in front of all of the Simmons swimmers. She also placed second in the 50 backstroke at 30.58 and helped the 200 medley relay team to a second place finish in a combined time of 2:03.57.
