Adrienne Bender received the 2014 Charger Award for this year's Outstanding Female Athlete. The award is given to a female who has extraordinary athletic ability and has contributed the most to her team, the College and the world of sport. The award is a token of hard work, good judgment, understanding and determination.

She also won the Wynne Jesser McGrew Scholar-Athlete Award which is given to the graduating female senior who, in the opinion of the Athletic Advisory Council, has made significant contributions to both the scholastic and varsity programs of the College.

Bender is a senior, who spent four years with the women's soccer team and three years with the women's lacrosse team.

Bender, who is an Exercise Science Major and Business Administration minor, has excelled in the classroom and on the soccer and lacrosse fields. In the fall, Bender led the women's soccer team to the best season in program history and a trip to the NCAA for the first time ever. Below is a list of academic and athletic accolades collected throughout her four years at Colby-Sawyer College.

"Adrienne not only stands out as a scholar and a strong performer in the classroom, but she is also an incredible mentor to her peers on and off the athletic fields. To say she was an impact player for the women's soccer program is an understatement. Aside from being the epitome of a successful student-athlete, Adrienne is an outstanding college representative, team player and role model to her teammates.  Adrienne will be greatly missed across all areas of the college, but we wish her well in her future plans of coaching.  I know whatever program Adrienne ends up working with, they will be incredibly lucky to have her!" – Women's Soccer Head Coach Meghan Medbery
