Colby-Sawyer Hall of Famer Tom White '09 enters his seventh season after leading the Chargers baseball program through one of the most successful stretches in recent program history. Since being named the second head coach in program history in February 2021, White has continued to elevate the program through a commitment to player development, competitive excellence, and student-athlete success.
Under White's leadership, the Chargers have posted a 75-120 overall record and a 25-42 conference mark through six seasons. His tenure has been highlighted by a program-tying 25-win campaign in 2024, the first 20-win season for Colby-Sawyer since 2000, and the program's first-ever appearance in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) postseason play. The Chargers finished 25-17 overall and 10-6 in conference play that season, earning a GNAC Pod Play Runner-Up finish while producing six All-GNAC selections and three All-Region honorees. In 2026, White guided the Chargers to an 18-21 overall record, marking the program's third-highest win total since 2000 and continuing the momentum established during his tenure.
Before returning to New London, White spent five seasons as head coach at Vermont State University-Lyndon (formerly Lyndon State College), where he led the Hornets to three North Atlantic Conference (NAC) playoff appearances. In 2017, he guided Lyndon to a then-program record 22 victories and earned NAC Coach of the Year honors.
A 2009 graduate of Colby-Sawyer, White was inducted into the College's Athletic Hall of Fame in 2014 following a distinguished playing career in both baseball and soccer. On the diamond, he remains one of the most accomplished players in program history, ranking first in games played (141), at-bats (464), and doubles (39); second in hits (164), on-base percentage (.450), and runs scored (119); tied for second in stolen bases (40); and third in RBIs (133). He was named Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Rookie of the Year, earned two First Team All-CCC selections, and one Second Team All-CCC honor.
White earned his Master of Education in Athletic Administration from Plymouth State University in 2010. A native of Lisbon, New Hampshire, White is married to Ellen (Naughton) White '09, a women's basketball student-athlete for the Chargers from 2005 to 2009. The couple has two sons, Colin and Connor.
