Biography

AT COLBY-SAWYER
2023: Thornton became a star in her first season in New London starting all 19 games for the Chargers in 2023. Mikayla ended the year with a lone assist in 1142 minutes as an important defender on the field. Thornton's first collegiate point came on September 1st with an assist against Fitchburg State in a 3-0 victory. Mikayla was later named to the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) All-Rookie Team. Thornton was later named to the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division III All Academic Squad maintaining a cumulative grade-point average of 3.5 or higher through the first semester of the 2023 academic year.

PRIOR TO COLBY-SAWYER: Graduate of Lebanon High School, where Thornton was a team captain, New Hampshire All-State selection, team most-improved player and team MVP award-winner.
