FARMINGTON, Maine – The Colby-Sawyer College women's soccer team completed a thrilling second-half comeback on Sunday afternoon, stunning the University of Maine at Farmington, 4-3.. The victory marks the first collegiate head coaching win for first-year head coach Brendon Boates.

Colby-Sawyer wasted no time jumping ahead, finding the back of the net just 6:05 into the contest when Junior Eve Van Wickler (Sturbridge, Mass.) netted her first goal of the season and her career.

The Beavers answered quickly, leveling the match at 8:34 on a penalty kick conversion before adding back-to-back tallies in the 21st and 23rd minutes to take a 3-1 lead into the intermission.

The Chargers mounted their charge early in the second half. At the 51:42 mark, persistent pressure inside the box resulted in a Maine-Farmington own goal to slice the margin to 3-2. Less than five minutes later, senior Sydney Ledoux (Bolton, Conn.) played a feed to senior Maddy Minckler, who buried her first goal of the season at 56:29 to deadlock the contest at 3-3.

With the match seemingly headed for a draw, the Chargers struck in dramatic fashion with ten seconds remaining in regulation. Senior Ellie Smith (Plymouth, Mass.) beat the defense and tucked home the game-winner at 89:50 to cap off the three-goal comeback and secure the milestone victory.
