NEW LONDON, N.H. – The Colby-Sawyer College field hockey team bounced back into the win column on Sunday afternoon, edging Thomas College, 4-3, in a non-conference thriller at Sally Shaw Veitch Track & Field.

Colby-Sawyer set the tone early in the opening quarter, jumping ahead just 6:22 into the match when junior Brooke Farquhar (Gorham, Maine) struck for an unassisted marker to give the Chargers a 1-0 lead.

The Chargers doubled their advantage early in the second frame. Farquhar turned distributor at 16:57, finding senior Abby Olden (Belchertown, Mass.), who slotted home her third goal of the season to make it 2-0.

Thomas answered with a quick two-goal push before halftime. Celia Stinson cut the deficit in half at 24:10, and Avery Labua converted a feed from Abby Stevens at 26:52 to level the score at 2-2 heading into the intermission.

Colby-Sawyer regained the lead early in the second half. At 32:31, sophomore Jillian Fredette (Weare, N.H.) connected with Farquhar, who buried her second tally of the afternoon to put the Chargers up 3-2.

The Terriers responded 53 seconds into the fourth quarter, as Stevens netted an unassisted equalizer at 45:53 to tie the game at 3-3.

With the contest hanging in the balance late, sophomore Zoe Dries (Windham, Maine) delivered the decisive blow. Dries broke free and slipped home an unassisted marker at 57:20, sealing the 4-3 victory for Colby-Sawyer.

Farquhar led the Charger offense with a three-point afternoon, notching two goals and an assist to increase her team-leading total to 10 goals on the year.

Dries recorded her fourth goal of the season, which stood as her first game-winning tally of 2026.

Sophomore goalkeeper Sophie Krauss (Essex, VT.) earned her fifth win between the pipes, making 10 saves across 60 minutes of action.
