NEW LONDON, N.H. - The Men's Lacrosse program pushed toward a decisive win over the Mitchell Mariners on Senior Day for their first win in program history during year one. The Chargers saw four different players score in the 15-6 victory.
Rapid Recap:
- The Chargers would open the game with the first in under a minute thanks to first year, Brycen Burnham (Oxfor, Maine). The Mariners found a way to respond on a goal from Killian Stvartak before Evan Thomas (Sudbury, VT.) scored the second goal for the Chargers.
- After the Mariners would knot the game at 2, the Chargers went on a three nothing run with two goals to end the first period by James Masterson (North Kingstown, R.I.) and Burnham on a pass from Masterson. Masterson and Burnham would connect on another goal to extend the Charger lead to 5-2. The Mariners would cut the lead to one goal on back to back goals by Stvartak and Graham Brown.
- The Chargers would go on a strong 6 nothing run to push towards a big lead going into the half. Burnham and Thomas would connect on two goals, with Burnham scoring four goals before the half. Nathan Marquis (Weare, N.H.) and Masterson would score, with Thomas giving the Chargers a 10-4 lead. The Mariners would score a man up goal to send the game into half 11-5.
- Masterson would open up the third period with a goal to put the Chargers up 11-5 before the Mariners scored their final goal of the game. Evan Thomas would score two, Masterson one, and Marquis one to give the Chargers 15 goals.
Inside the Numbers:
- This win marks the programs first ever win during year one. This also marks Head Coach Pape Lukk's first career head coaching win.
- Evan Thomas led the team with 8 points on the day with 4 goals and 4 assists total. Burnham would lead all goal scorers with 5 goals.
- Keegan Fredette (Lebanon, N.H.) would get the win in net while recording 3 saves.
- James Masterson would record 3 goals and 4 assists to be the first Charger to eclipse the 10 goal mark.
