Newton, MA – The Colby-Sawyer softball team played at Lasell on Wednesday for the team's first two GNAC games of the season. 

Rapid Recap Game 1: 

• Mallory Blackwell (Fleming Island, FL) was the starting pitcher for the Chargers, and Abigail Fortin was the starting pitcher for the Lasers. 

• Strong defensive performances from both teams led to the game being scoreless after four innings. 

• Blackwell hit an RBI double in the top of the fifth inning to score Julia Hoag (Merrimack, NH) for the first run of the game. Hoag's run put the Chargers up 1-0. 

• In the bottom of the sixth inning, Alyssa Bland hit an RBI single for the Lasers. Later in the inning, Emily Stilwell hit a 2 RBI single for the Lasers. The Lasers won the game 3-1. 

Inside the Numbers Game 1: 

• Blackwell pitched six innings for the Chargers. 

• Blackwell, Kyla Angell (North Providence, RI), Emma Baker (Seekonk, MA), Larissa Daigle (Fort Kent, ME), and Julia Hoag each recorded a hit in game 1. 

• Shyanne Raccio was 2-3 from the plate for the Lasers. 

• The Chargers ended the game on eight assists and 18 putouts. 

Rapid Recap Game 2: 

• Lena Rodrigues (Belmont, NH) was the starting pitcher for the Chargers, and Shyanne Raccio was the starting pitcher for the Lasers.  

• Angell scored the first run of the game in the top of the first inning. The Chargers led 1-0. For the Lasers, Emma Tarleton hit an RBI double in the second inning. Tarleton later scored, followed by Riley Michael hitting a 2 RBI double. 

• Lyndsey Valletta (Macedon, NY) hit an RBI single for the Chargers in the fourth inning. Mikayla Creighton (Pepperell, MA) scored later in the inning. The Chargers trailed by one run. 

• The Lasers scored five runs in the fourth inning. In the fifth inning, the Lasers scored two runs. The Lasers won the game 11-3. 

Inside the Numbers Game 2: 

• Rodrigues pitched 4.2 innings on Sunday. 

• Hoag, Angell, Daigle, and Valletta each recorded a hit in game 2. 

• Tarleton was 3-3 from the plate in game 2 for the Lasers. 

• The Chargers combined for seven assists and 14 putouts.

The Chargers will play at New England College on Sunday at 12pm and 2pm.
