Â
Brent Schoeb, chief operating officer for the San Francisco 49ers, will be the featured guest for Colby-Sawyer's Beyond the Game discussion at 6 p.m. Thursday, April 2, in Clements Hall in Ivey Science Center.  Â
Beyond the Game is the brainchild of Colby-Sawyer alum Ethan Casson '96, president of the Dallas Mavericks. He launched the speaker series at his alma mater so Charger student-athletes could learn from innovators and visionaries. Â
The event is open to Colby-Sawyer students, faculty and staff. Â
Schoeb oversees revenue, marketing and events for the 49ers, one of the most iconic franchises in professional sports. He will provide insights into leadership, innovation and building a successful career in the sports industry.  In 2020, Schoeb was recognized as one of Sports Business Journal's Forty Under 40. The annual honor celebrates executives for their achievement and innovation in the field. Schoeb holds an MBA/Master of Sports Administration from Ohio University and a Bachelor of Science in marketing from St. Cloud State University.
Rich Gotham, president of the Boston Celtics, and Amanda Chin, senior vice president of marketing for the Golden State Warriors, were previous Beyond the Game guests.Â
Beyond the Game conversations, which are held once a semester, focus on career readiness, personal development and practical skills.
Discussions are intended to empower student-athletes to leverage the lessons of their athletic experience to thrive in any career or life path. Â
Casson earned a Bachelor of Science in sport management at Colby-Sawyer, where he was a standout basketball player.
He was inducted into the college's Athletic Hall of Fame in 2015 and the New England Basketball Hall of Fame in 2013. Â
Before becoming president of the Mavs, Casson was CEO of the Minnesota Timberwolves and Lynx. Prior to that, he was the chief operating officer for the San Francisco 49ers.Â
