FARQUHAR'S LATE STRIKE LIFTS FIELD HOCKEY OVER NEC FOR TENTH STRAIGHT WIN

HENNIKER, N.H. – Junior Brooke Farquhar scored two goals—including the game-winner with just over two minutes remaining in regulation—to propel the Colby-Sawyer College field hockey team to a thrilling 2-1 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) victory over in-state opponent New England College on Wednesday evening at Don Melander Field.

Rapid Recap:

  • Both teams traded early chances under the lights, with sophomore goalkeeper Sophie Krauss turning aside three first-quarter shots to keep the Pilgrims off the board.

  • Colby-Sawyer broke the deadlock at the 24:28 mark of the second quarter. Sophomore Jillian Fredette collected possession in the circle and dished a pass across to Farquhar, who buried her 22nd goal of the campaign to give the Chargers a 1-0 advantage going into halftime.

  • New England College responded late in the third period. At 41:45, Adelaide Kelly set up Kylee Henriquez for the equalizer, leveling the contest at 1-1 heading into the fourth frame.

  • With overtime looming, the Chargers generated a late attacking surge. In the 58th minute, Fredette connected once again with Farquhar, who finished at 57:47 for her second tally of the night to secure the dramatic 2-1 victory.
