NEW LONDON, N.H. – The Colby-Sawyer women's soccer team returned home on Saturday afternoon looking for a weekend sweep as they hosted Thomas College of Maine.
Rapid Recap:
- The Chargers would jump out to an early 1-0 lead in just the 7th minute of the game on a beautiful cross from Kate Vasconcelos (Woodsville, N.H.) that would find the foot of Sophomore Sydney Ledoux (Bolton, Conn.). This would mark Ledoux's first goal of the young season for the Chargers.
- The Chargers back line would hold the Terriers scoreless in the first half, while limiting Thomas to just two shots. The Chargers would try and add some insurance with four shots, and three corners.
- The Chargers would keep the pressure going in the second half, ripping multiple shots before landing another shot in the back of the net. Lauren McKee (Littleton, N.H.) would send a deep ball upfield to Ledoux, who would out pace the Terriers defense to land a foot onto the ball towards net for her second goal of the game.
Inside the Numbers:
- The Chargers would out shoot the Terriers 19-9 while landing nine on goal, with Thomas landing 5. The Chargers would also force five corner kicks on the day compared to the Terriers two.
- Nicole Morello (Wilmington, Mass.) would start in net as she would record 65:13 minutes in net while picking up 3 saves. Aurora Proulx (Sheldon, Vt.) would follow Morello, playing the last 24:47 and picking up 2 saves herself.
- Sydney Ledoux would notch her first brace of her career while leading the charge for Colby-Sawyer.
