Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

CHARGERS PICK UP SECOND STRAIGHT TIE AGAINST BLUE JAYS

New London, N.H. – The Colby-Sawyer women's soccer team battled to a 1-1 draw against the Blue Jays of the University of Saint Joseph (Conn.) on Saturday afternoon at Kelsey Field. 

Rapid Recap: 

  • Alana Picard scored the first goal of the game after 3 minutes, putting the Blue Jays up 1-0 after cutting in from the right side of the field. 

  • The Chargers and Blue Jays would go on to trade chances throughout the remainder of the first half, with both teams looking threatening. 

  • The second half would continue with both teams being even, and Gabriela Calidonio (Flagler Beach, Fla.) would go on to make several key saves for the Chargers. 

  • With less than 8 minutes to go in the game, senior captain Lauren Ardolino (Milford, Conn.) scored from the right side of the field and outside the box, with the ball hitting the left post before finding the back of the net. 

Inside the Numbers: 

  • Maddie LaVarnway (Claremont, N.H.) made her first start of the season on Saturday, showing versatility by playing in multiple positions on the field. 

  • Ardolino's goal is her 5th of the season, leading the team in goals on the year. 

Up Next: 

The Chargers travel to Buzzards Bay, Mass. on Wednesday to face non-conference opponent Massachusetts Maritime Academy for a 7pm kickoff.
