CHARGERS WIN STREAK ENDS IN SALEM

SALEM, MASS. - The Colby-Sawyer women's soccer team traveled to Massachusetts Thursday evening to take on the Salem State Vikings. The Chargers were carried a two game winning streak into this match-up looking for their third straight. 

Rapid Recap:
  • The Chargers defense would hold their line for a majority of the first half. It wasn't until the Vikings put the first goal in net at the 28:54 mark on a goal by Tatianna Lazo on an assist by Ava LeCours.
  • The Chargers would rip two shots quickly after the Vikings would score made by Lauren McKee (Littleton, N.H.) and Maddy Minckler (Claremont, N.H.) that were saved by the Vikings keeper. The Chargers defense would hold strong to end the half, bringing the break to a 1-0 score. 
  • The Vikings would be granted a penalty kick in the first couple minutes of the second half that would net their second goal of the game. The Chargers would have multiple chances halfway through the second half as they would get three straight corner kicks. The Chargers would get multiple chances to end the rest of the second half that were held up and kept out by the Vikings.
Inside the Numbers: 
  • The Chargers kept the pressure high as they would out shoot the Vikings 12-9, while Colby-Sawyer also led in shots on goal 9-8. 
  • The Chargers would split responsibilites in net between three of their goalkeepers. Gabriela Calidonio (Flager Beach, Fla.) would play the full first half making 3 saves during her 45 minutes. Nicole Morello (Wilmington, Mass.) would play 25:31 in net to start the second half, while Lyndsey Valletta (Macedon, N.Y.) would play the last 19:29 making 2 saves herself.
