CHARGERS RECORD 0-0 DRAW ON THE ROAD AGAINST ANNA MARIA

Box Score PAXTON, MASS. - The Colby-Sawyer women's soccer team concluded their match with Anna Maria College in a 0-0 tie on Saturday evening. The Chargers now sit at 3-1-3 in conference play.  
 
Rapid Recap:  
  • The Chargers led with high attacking pressure in the first half with senior Bridget O'Connell (Peabody, Mass.) and first-year Kate Vasconcelos firing back-to-back shots on target. The Chargers had two early corner kicks int he half with first-year Maddie LaVarnway (Claremont, N.H.) and senior Halle Pletzer (Barre, Vt.) putting shots on target, but Kortney Clark remained tough in the net for the Amcats keeping the match all tied up at 0-0 heading into halftime. 
  • The Chargers continued their offensive momentum in the second half with shots by graduate student Sam Bishop (Windham, N.H.), senior Soph Kuhlthau (Cheshire, Conn.), and O'Connell but Clark made key saves for Anna Maria. The Amcats took control late in the second half and fired back-to-back shots, but junior Gabriela Calidonio (Flager Beach, Fla.) remained tough in the net. In the final minutes, Colby-Sawyer continued to seek a breakthrough with shots by junior Lauren Ardolino (Milford, Conn.), Bishop, and Pletzer, but none were able to find the back of the net, concluding the match with a 0-0 tie.  
 
 
Inside The Numbers:  
  • The Chargers outshot the Amcats 20-3 with 11 shots on goal.  
  • O'Connell finished the match with four of her seven shots on goal while Pletzer chipped in two shots on goal.  
  • Calidonio recorded three saves while in net.  
 
Up Next:   
The Chargers return home on Sunday in a non-conference match featuring the Spartans of Vermont State Castleton with a 12:00 PM start.
