GNAC Playoff Preview: #3 Chargers Look For Revenge Against #6 Rivier on Saturday

NEW LONDON, N.H. – The Colby-Sawyer women's field hockey team is getting ready for Saturday as they will host the Rivier University Raiders at the Sally Shaw Veitch Field during the GNAC Tournament First Round. The #3 seeded Chargers will host the #6 seeded Raiders on Saturday, October 28th with a 1:00 PM start time. 
 
No. 3 Colby-Sawyer Chargers (12-4, 9-3 GNAC)
No. 6 Rivier University Raiders (8-8, 8-4 GNAC)
 
Game Headlines:
Colby-Sawyer is looking to take revenge on the Raiders after their fall during the regular season: losing 3-4 on October 10th at home. After defeating Regis, University of Saint Joseph (Conn.), Albertus Magnus, and Elms all afterwards by good margin, the Chargers are looking to make their swing back in the GNAC playoff contest.
 
Colby-Sawyer Headlines:
  • The Chargers ended the regular season 12-4 after many hard-fought games. This season, the main highlights stem from the offense which has produced 51 goals with 20.4 shots per game and a 68% total shot on goal percentage. 
  • This regular season proved well for first-years, as first-year Ryleigh LaPorte (Leicester, VT) racked up 10 goals, one assist, for 21 points; and first-year Aubrey Fischer (Weare, N.H.) produced six goals, one assist, for 13 points.
  • On the defensive side, senior Aleah Murph (Portland, ME) held an outstanding nine defensive saves to keep the Charger's ahead of the pack to go with eight goals and seven assists. First-year Aili Carney (Derry, NH) and junior Sabrina Lipold (Windham, NH) followed behind with one defensive save a piece. The Chargers have collected 83 saves as a team overall with junior goalkeeper Carly Bernard (Swanze, N.H.) leading the way with a 12-4 record. 
Rivier Headlines:
  • Rivier finished the regular season with 8-8 record to clinch the #6 seed. 
  • Graduate Madison Streeter (Westminster, VT) led the way offensively for the team with 12 goals, four assist, and 28 points; sophomore Reilly Swislosky (Webster, NH) followed closely with 11 goals, three assists, and 25 points.
  •  Defensively-speaking, senior Chloe Sicard (Salem, NH) paved the way with two defensive stops, with first-year Erin McCormick (Berlin, NH) following closely behind with a singular defensive stop.
All-Time vs Rivier 
  • The Chargers have held a 10-3 overall record against Rivier since 2011 with the last victorious playoff game being last year on October 29, 2022 with a 2-0 win in New London.
