NEWTON, Mass. - The Colby-Sawyer women's soccer team fell short in their final regular season game of the season to Lasell by a 2-1 final on Monday.
Rapid Recap:
- The Chargers and Lasers battled for the first 20 minutes without a shot on target being taken. Lasell finally got on the board in thw 25th minute as Evelyn DiFiore scored on a pass of Camdyn LaMarre to put the home team up 1-0. Just three minutes later junior Bridget O'Connell (Peabody, Mass.) tied the score finishing a goal on a pass from senior Sam Bishop (Windham, N.H.). Sophomore Lauren Ardolino almost gave the Chargers the lead, but Lataya Simmons made the spot to keep the game at 1-1 headed into the break.
- In the second half the Lasers tabbed a second score early on as Julia Vaillancourt scored on an assist by Michelina D'Agostino. O'Connell tried to answer again, but Simmons made another big stop to hold the lead. Lasell held on strong for the win.
Inside the Numbers:
- O'Connell scored her 19th goal of the season in the loss.
- Graduate student Alexis LeBreton (Bangor, Maine) made three saves in the net for the Chargers in the loss.
Up Next:
The Chargers will be in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) playoffs with an opponent to be determined.
