Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Chargers Shut Down Rivier 1-0

NASHUA, N.H. - The Colby-Sawyer women's soccer team picked up their most impressive victory of the season on Tuesday night holding off Rivier by a 1-0 final. With the win the Chargers stay undefeated in the granite state holding a 6-0-3 record in New Hampshire.

Rapid Recap:
  • The Chargers had a quick opportunity out of the gate as junior Bridget O'Connell (Peabody, Mass.) fired a shot saved by Bri Nugent. The next chance came in the 12th minute with Nugent turning away senior Sam Bishop (Windham, N.H.). In the 38th minute the Chargers jumped ahead as Bishop sent a feed to O'Connell who beat Nugent short side to give Colby-Sawyer the lead. The Raiders tried to answer in the final five minutes, but graduate student Alexis LeBreton (Bangor, Maine) denied Kaylee Magoon to keep the score at 1-0 headed to the second half.
  • The second half started with a flurry by Colby-Sawyer getting shots by junior Halle Pletzer (Barre, Vt.), Sophie Nadeau (Hampton, N.H.) and Bishop, but three saves were made by Nugent. In the 79th minute the Raiders had a close opportunity but LeBreton denied Cadance Ryan to shut out Rivier.
