Gaudette's Program Record Five Assists Push Chargers Past Regis College

NEW LONDON, N.H.  – The Colby-Saywer Chargers field hockey team has clinched a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) home playoff game after defeating Regis College on Wednesday by a 6-1 final. In the game first year Taylor Gaudette (North Conway, N.H.) broke a Chargers single-game program record dishing out five assists in the win.

  • The Pride got the first score of the game as Chloe Grande got a shot past senior Lauren Wilkinson (Lynn, Mass.) following a save. Regis continued to control the play in the first quarter getting another shot on target that Wilkinson guided away. Colby-Sawyer responded in the second quarter gaining the momentum in the 16th minute as Gaudette found junior Aleah Murph (Portland, Maine) for the goal. Just two minutes later the Chargers took their first lead as Gaudette found sophomore Emma Webster (Campton, N.H.) for the score off a penalty corner. The Chargers continued to fire shots, but Jocelyn White stayed strong for Regis making three saves to keep the Charger lead 2-1 heading into the half. 
  • In the third quarter the Colby-Sawyer offense continued to roll as Gaudette found senior Aoife Daly (Harwich, Mass.) in the 40th minute to extend the lead to 3-1. The Chargers were not done as Daly found junior Sarah Babb (South Yarmouth, Mass.) on the post to push the lead to 4-1 heading into the fourth quarter. In the 49th minute Webster got another goal as Gaudette found the stick in front for the score. Just before the game concluded Gaudette made history finding Murph again with three seconds on the clock to end the game at 6-1.

"We finished the regular season strong", said first year Taylor Gaudette (North Conway, N.H.). "We are ready for Saturday!"

Stats & Figures: 
  • Gaudette's record setting five assists is the third program record broken by the first year in her first season also breaking the points and goals record in a single game on September 11th against the University of Maine - Farmington. Taylor breaks a record set by senior Caroline Koziol (Waterford, N.Y.) just last year on October 9, 2021 at Albertus Magnus, where Koziol dished four assists in a game. 
  • Murph and Webster led the goal-scorers for the Chargers with a pair of goals each, while Daly and Babb added a goal of their own.  
  • Wilkinson made two saves in the net for Colby-Sawyer in her 12th win of the season. 
Up Next:  
The Chargers clinched the four seed in the GNAC Tournament and will be back at home on Saturday, October 29th hosting the fifth seeded Rivier University.
