Field Hockey Defeated by Saint Joseph's (ME), 5-0

STANDISH, Maine – September 29, 2018 - The Colby-Sawyer field hockey team fell at Saint Joseph's College (ME), 5-0, in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action on Saturday. 

The Monks improve to 11-1 overall and 4-0 in the GNAC. The Chargers dip to 6-4 overall and 2-2 in conference action. Colby-Sawyer will stay in Maine to play Thomas College on Sunday at 1 p.m.

Senior Kayla Veilleux (Sabattus, Maine) tallied two goals and an assist and junior Maddy Beaulieu (West Gardiner, Maine) posted a pair of assists to help the Monks remain undefeated in conference play.

Saint Joseph's netted four goals in the first half, including three on penalty corners, as sophomore Alexandra Belaire (Greene, Maine) opened the scoring with her eighth strike of the season, off a Veilleux assist, at the 9:57 mark.

Veilleux proceeded to score twice in a span of six minutes and senior Kara Kelly (York, Maine) capped the first-half scoring with her fifth goal of the season, off an Arianna Kahler (Lisbon Falls, Maine) pass, in the 32nd minute.

Senior Kayla Kelly (York, Maine) concluded the scoring ledger at the 48:02 mark when she notched her fifth goal of the year.

Saint Joseph's used three goalkeepers to secure the victory on Saturday. Senior Megan Baker (Gorham, Maine) played the first half with no saves, while sophomore Alexandria Simpson (Pascoag, R.I.) made one save in 18:49 minutes and freshman Izzy Anton (Mount Vernon, N.H.) posted a pair of stops in 16:11 minutes.

Colby-Sawyer sophomore Abby Ladd (Colchester, Vt.) turned away 15 shots in 66:24 minutes before being removed in favor of freshman Julia Carr (York, Maine), who did not face a shot in 3:36 of relief.
