Women's Soccer Falls at Saint Joseph's (ME)

STANDISH, Maine - October 17, 2018 - The Colby-Sawyer women's soccer team dropped a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) match at Saint Joseph's College of Maine, 4-1, on Wednesday evening. 

The Monks improve to 12-2 overall and 9-2 in the conference. SJC hosts Albertus Magnus on Saturday for a conference regular season finale. Colby-Sawyer drops to 6-7 overall and 6-5 in the GNAC. The Chargers will host Anna Maria and will celebrate senior day on Saturday at 1 p.m.

The home team scored early in the first half and never looked back. The Monks added three more goals in the second half before Colby-Sawyer got on the board in the 88th minute. Colby-Sawyer junior Sam Mitchell (Chester, N.H.) notched her first collegiate goal off a feed from Abbie Sansoucy (Douglas, Mass.). 

Monks goalie Adia Grogan worked the first 82 minutes and made seven saves. Cori Balam finished the match with a pair of saves and allowed one goal. Colby-Sawyer senior Oona Bond (Southborough, Mass.) made five saves.

SJC had a 21-15 advantage in shots, but shots on goal were even at 10-10. The Monks also had a 7-1 margin in corner kicks.
