Field Hockey Sets Program Record with 12th Win

PAXTON, Mass. - October 17, 2018 - The Colby-Sawyer field hockey team set a program record for wins in a season with 12 after Wednesday's 2-1 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) victory at Anna Maria.

Colby-Sawyer extends its program record win streak to six and improves to 12-4 overall and 4-2 in the GNAC. The Chargers will host Simmons next Wednesday for a regular season finale. Anna Maria drops to 6-7 overall and 2-3 in the conference. The AMCATS will host Simmons on Saturday.

After a scoreless first half, the Chargers broke through with two goals in a five-minute stretch early in the second frame. Jordan Teixeira scored her 10th goal of the season off a feed from Hadley Woodfin. The Chargers doubled their lead when Marissa Nance set up teammate Lauryn Masse with the eventual game-winner.

Anna Maria cut the deficit in half with a goal by Chayna Bingham-Hendricks with less than five minutes to play, but the score would end in Colby-Sawyer's favor 2-1.

Abby Ladd finished with one save and set a single-season record with her 11th win. Cassandra Micklesavage had seven saves for the AMCATS.

The Chargers outshot Anna Maria 14-4 and held a 4-2 edge in corners.
