Women's Soccer Hangs On For 3-2 Win at Rivier

NASHUA, N.H. - October 10, 2018 - The Colby-Sawyer women's soccer team earned a 3-2 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) road win at Rivier on Wednesday evening.

The Chargers improve to 5-6 overall and 5-4 in the GNAC. The team will host the University of Saint Joseph (CT) on Saturday at 12:30 p.m. Rivier falls to 3-8 overall and 2-7 in the conference.

Junior Leah Dupuis put the visitors on the board in the 23rd minute with her first goal of the season.

Colby-Sawyer doubled its lead in the 32nd minute when senior Shari Rainville set up senior teammate Hannah Fields who notched her team leading sixth goal of the season.

Senior Abbie Sansoucy put the Chargers in front by three, nine minutes into the second half.

Rivier spoiled the clean sheet with a goal in the 69th minute off a converted penalty kick by sophomore Ashley Glynn.

With three minutes to play, the Raiders would creep closer when sophomore Madison Wescott scored off a pass from a free kick by senior Megan Hamel, but that would be as they would get.

Oona Bond made two saves for Colby-Sawyer, while Kasey Smith kept the Raiders close with seven stops.

Colby-Sawyer outshot Rivier 23-6.
