BANGOR, Maine - October 27, 2017 - The Colby-Sawyer field hockey team fell to top seed Husson, 3-1, in Friday's North Atlantic Conference (NAC) East semifinal contest.
The Chargers end the season with a 9-8 record. Husson (10-5) advances to tomorrow's NAC title game against second seed UMaine-Farmington.
The Eagles took a 1-0 lead five minutes into the game when Taylor Shaw received a pass from Abby Dyer and put the home team in front.
In the 22nd minute, Mikayla Toth converted a penalty stroke into the right side of the cage to put the Eagles up 2-0.
Taylor Shaw gave Husson a 3-0 advantage 20 minutes into the second half to create separation from the Chargers.
Colby-Sawyer broke through in the 58th minute on
Paige Viens' team leading 11th goal of the season. Viens and
Jordan Teixeira played a give-and-go to set up a breakaway chance for Viens who deposited the ball into the back of the cage. Unfortunately, the Chargers could not get any closer as Husson went on for the 3-1 victory.
Husson's Anne Marie Provencal posted seven saves in the victory while,
Abby Ladd recorded an impressive 19 saves for the Chargers.
Jenna Donahue and
Jesse Murch were named to the All-Tournament team.
