FAIR HAVEN, Vt. - October 12, 2016 - The Colby-Sawyer women's soccer team scored three times in the first half and added two more goals in the second to secure a 5-0 North Atlantic Conference (NAC) over Green Mountain under the lights on Wednesday night.
Colby-Sawyer has won three in a row to improve to 4-8-1 overall and 3-2-1 in the NAC. The Chargers will host Maine Maritime on Saturday and will celebrate senior day. The team will be wearing pink jerseys to show support for Breast Cancer Awareness.
The Chargers controlled play from the opening whistle and finished with a 44-1 shot advantage and 13-0 discrepency in corner kicks.
Colby-Sawyer broke the scoreless tie in the 20th minute with sophomore
Amanda Martin's first career goal. The Chargers then added goals in the 31st and 39th minute to take a 3-0 lead into halftime. Sophomore
Abbie Sansoucy scored her third goal of the season off a feed from freshman
Molly MacLure, while freshman
Alexis LaPointe notched her first collegiate goal off an assist from sophomore
Maddie Chamard.
The visitors scored twice more in the second half to come away with the 5-0 victory. Junior
Natalie Shear set up senior teammate
Olivia Kurowski who deposited her first goal of the season. Sophomore
Shelby Kantor rounded out the scoring with her second goal in as many games in the final minute of action on Wednesday.
Marissa Wililams earned her second win of the season in net for the Chargers and made one save. Green Mountain keeper Tyah Culp had 16 stops for Green Mountain.
