NEW LONDON, N.H. – September 12, 2015 – The Wheaton College field hockey team scored three times in the first half and held on for a 3-2 road win at Colby-Sawyer College on Saturday afternoon.

Wheaton improves to 4-0 and will host Lasell on Tuesday under the lights at 7:00 p.m. The Chargers drop to 1-3 and play at Regis on Wednesday.

The visitors controlled much of the first half and held a 14-4 advantage in shots.

Senior Kelsey Harris (Spencer, Mass.) put the Lyons in front 4:10 into the game when she finished a pass from junior Amelia Gage (Lebanon, N.H.).

Harris doubled Wheaton's lead at 19:48 with her fifth tally of the season off a feed from sophomore Katie Peters (Medway, Mass.).

Gage added a third goal for the visitors with 10 minutes remaining in the first frame tying Harris for the team lead in goals with five.

Colby-Sawyer regrouped at halftime and tilted the field to the offensive end. The Chargers held a 5-4 edge in shots in the half.

At 51:44, the Chargers were awarded a penalty stroke. Freshman Jordan Teixeira (Exeter, N.H.) ripped a shot into the right side of the cage past the goalie for her second goal of the season.

With less than four minutes to play, Colby-Sawyer cut the deficit to one on senior Brittany Grandbois' (East Barre, Vt.) team leading third goal of the season.

The Chargers had one last chance in front of the cage as time was running out, but the flurry of action was halted as the final buzzer sounded.

Sophomore Riley Thompson (Fairfield, Conn.) made four saves in the win for Wheaton. Senior Jodi Dumayne (Claremont, N.H.) kept the Chargers in the game by stopping 11 shots.
