WATERVILLE, Maine - October 3, 2015 – The Thomas College field hockey team defeated Colby-Sawyer College 2-1 in a North Atlantic Conference (NAC) game on Saturday afternoon at Bernatchez Field.
Thomas improves to 6-5 overall and 2-0 in the conference, while Colby-Sawyer also goes to 6-5 overall, but falls to 0-2 in the NAC.
The Terriers struck first 13 minutes into the game. Taylor Bergeron received a pass from Curry just inside the circle. Bergeron drove a shot past the Colby-Sawyer goalkeeper to put the Red and Black up 1-0.
The Chargers evened the score with less than ten minutes remaining in the half. After a scramble in front of the Thomas net, where goalie Abbie Charrier made a save off the initial shot,
Taylor O'Connor gathered the rebound and put it into the back of the net to bring the score to 1-1 at halftime.
Thomas regained the lead eight minutes into the second half. Brooklyn Curry crossed a pass in front of the net to Emily Leighton, who buried the game-winning goal to put the Terriers up 2-1.
Charrier made five stops in goal and earned the win for the Terriers.
Jodi Dumayne recorded eight saves in the loss.
