Field Hockey Gets Program Record 8th Win

NEW LONDON, N.H. – October 24, 2015 – The Colby-Sawyer College field hockey team celebrated senior day with a 3-0 North Atlantic Conference (NAC) victory over New England College on Saturday afternoon.

The Chargers improved to 8-7 and set a program record for wins in a single season. The team has seen its win total increase in each of the five seasons since the program became varsity in 2011. Colby-Sawyer also goes to 2-3 in the NAC to finish fourth in the standings and earn the team its first trip to the NAC tournament. The Chargers will play at the top seed, Husson, on Saturday, October 31.

New England College drops to 2-16 overall and will wrap up its regular season on Tuesday with a match at Simmons.

Junior Allyse Mullen (Wilder, Vt.) put the Chargers in front less than six minutes into the game when she finished an insert from sophomore Page Viens (Middlebury, Vt.) off a penalty corner.

Viens then assisted on Colby-Sawyer's second goal as she set up senior Becky Batchelder (Pepperell, Mass.) who scored her second goal of the season in the 17th minute.

Colby-Sawyer would add one more goal before half and go on to win the game 3-0. Senior Brittany Grandbois (East Barre, Vt.) notched her eighth goal of the season at 25:30 to tie for the team lead in goals. Grandbois climbed into second place in career goals with 11.
Seniors Jodi Dumayne (Claremont, N.H.) and Kasey Redmond (Germantown, N.Y.) combined for the shutout making five and one saves, respectively.

Sophomore goalie Michaela Clark (Dorchester, Mass.) made eight saves for the Pilgrims. Junior Carissa O'Brien (Johnstown, N.Y.) led the team with four shots and three on the cage.
