Late Goal Lifts Field Hockey to 3-2 Win at Rivier

NASHUA, N.H. - September 10, 2014 - The Colby-Sawyer field hockey team won its third straight contest after a 3-2 triumph at Rivier University on Wednesday evening. 
 
The Chargers (3-3) got the game winning goal from Nykki Stritzinger who laced a one-timer off a corner past Rivier senior goalkeeper Makenzie Flagg.
 
Rivier (0-3) was able to jump out in front as sophomore Nicole Hauer was able to deflect a Meredith Garcia pass into the back of the net inside the 7 minute mark.
 
Colby-Sawyer would answer back with two goals in the next seven minutes as both Becky Batchelder and Taylor O'Connor were able to give the Chargers a 2-1 lead. Rivier would find the equalizer just before halftime as Garica knocked home a pass from junior Danielle Moran.
 
The score would remain tied until Stritzinger gave Colby-Sawyer the lead with 2:25 left to play.
 
Flagg made five saves on the evening while her counterpart, Jodi Dumayne, stopped five of the seven shots she faced on net.
 
Rivier will open up Great Northeast Athletic Conference competition on Saturday afternoon as they host Saint Joseph's College. Game time is scheduled for 1pm. Colby-Sawyer will remain on the road as they square off against Wheaton College in Norton, Mass. on Saturday afternoon.
