Field Hockey Earns 2-0 Road Win at Johnson & Wales

Box Score PROVIDENCE, R.I. - October 13, 2013 - The Colby-Sawyer field hockey team defeated Johnson & Wales by a score of 2-0 in a non-conference contest at the Scotts Miracle-Gro Outdoor Athletic Complex on Sunday afternoon.

Colby-Sawyer got on the board just 6:30 into the game when junior Jess Buckley (Shrewsbury, Mass.) collected a loose ball in the box.  Buckley was then able to slip a shot into the corner of the net to put the visiting Chargers up 1-0.  Colby-Sawyer held a 13-8 advantage in shots in the first half and took the one goal lead heading into the locker room at halftime.

After battling back and forth throughout the second half, Colby-Sawyer extended their lead to 2-0 in the 65th minute on a goal by sophomore Brittany Grandbois (Barre, Vt.).  The Chargers then held on for the 2-0 victory.

Junior Jaclyn Lyons (Hillsborough, N.J.) had 11 stops in the loss for JWU while sophomore Jodi Dumayne (Claremont, N.H.) tallied 11 saves in the victory for Colby-Sawyer.

With the loss Johnson & Wales falls to 4-10 for the season while Colby-Sawyer improves to 6-7 on the year.
